Subramaniam is an alumnus of Delhi University from where he completed his Bachelors in Commerce (Hons). Subsequently, he completed his Masters in Management (PGDBM) and MA in Economics. Pursuing his academic interests in law and management, he completed the Bachelor of Law (LLB) in 2012 and an Advanced Program in Strategic Management in 2013 from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

Subramaniam joined Ivy in 2002 and moved to Gibraltar (then the location of the group's head office) in 2004, where he was managing and then heading the accounting and financial operations functions of the group. He became Head of Finance (Shared Services) in 2008 when he moved back from Gibraltar to set up the Finance Shared Services team in Ivy.

Prior to Ivy, Subramaniam was Manager (Accounts) at IMI Software Ltd and, before that, began his career as an Equity & Currency Analyst in New Delhi.

Ivy was a start-up when he joined in 2002; even today it retains the soul of a start-up which has, over the years, made Ivy a center of excellence for the group.
